Astronauts gathers photographs of the graffiti-laden LA River, all taken over the course of a day as indicated by the timestamp on Marcopoulos’ camera. Its wide horizontal format is well-suited to describe a functional architecture of concrete overpasses and embankments, barren environs reclaimed by the skate and graffiti communities. Handsomely produced in a small edition of 350 copies on a mimeograph machine.
